St. Louis Employees Volunteer to
Clean Up the Mississippi River
Chad Pregracke of Living Lands and Waters arrived on the banks of the Mississippi below the St. Louis Arch in September to help 50 Anheuser-Busch employees clean up this historic stretch of river.

The A-B employees picked up enough trash to fill a large dumpster. Bert Share of the company's Environmental Affairs division said, "It's dirty work, but at the end of the day you take a look and realize you did something to help out the community as well as protect a valuable resource."

Anheuser-Busch teamed up with Living Lands and Waters in 1998 to support their cleanup efforts. Pregracke's group aims to restore the Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio rivers by conducting community river cleanups that improve the rivers' ecosystems and prevent the contamination of drinking water.
