2003 Vision for America Award
Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. Honored as 2003 Vision for America Award Recipient

Keep America Beautiful, Inc. presented its prestigious 2003 Vision for America Award to Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. because of its all-encompassing approach to environmental stewardship.

Accepting for Anheuser-Busch at the October 28 award dinner at the Hyatt Regency Chicago was August A. Busch III, chairman of the board of Anheuser-Busch. Anheuser-Busch is the 18th recipient of the Vision for America Award, presented annually by Keep America Beautiful to corporations that have significantly enhanced civic, environmental and social stewardship throughout the United States.

In presenting the Vision for America Award to A-B, PepsiCo, Inc. Chairman and CEO Steven S. Reinemund noted that Anheuser-Busch is as well known for its honor and integrity as it is known for its flagship beer, Budweiser.

America Recycles Day

Anheuser-Busch, the world's largest recycler, celebrated America Recycles Day on November 15, 2003. America Recycles Day is an event intended to raise the public's awareness of the benefits of recycling.

Americans celebrated recycling by pledging to increase their recycling activities and by purchasing more products made from recycled materials as part of the Seventh-Annual America Recycles Day. Individuals who made a pledge were entered into a drawing to win a new Ford Focus PZEV, Trek aluminum bicycles, and a "Recycle Yourself Weekend" vacation package.

Anheuser-Busch has been a long-time leader in recycling and conservation, receiving numerous awards for its environmental efforts. The Anheuser-Busch Recycling Corporation, founded in 1978, is the largest recycler of aluminum cans in the world. Through a widespread network of aluminum recycling suppliers, the company now recycles more than 100 percent of the aluminum cans sold domestically by the beer company.
