Infrasonic - adj. Producing or using waves with frequencies below that of audible sound.

Elephants, among other animals, make a variety of vocalizations, including rumbles, screams and trumpets. Rumbles are low-frequency calls often in the infrasonic range, which normally includes anything under 20 Hz. Elephants may make these calls to manage large family groups, display dominance or attract potential mates. Scientists have documented that females with young are most vocal, using infrasonic sound, while bull groups are relatively silent.
